Metaphorically speaking you’re the sun and I’m the moon
You go up and I come down, I chase you
You always are brighter than me
People can live without me
But without you all life in existence everywhere in the universe
Would cease to be.
Metaphorically speaking you’re the dreams and I’m the bum
Everyday is the same for me and there’s no tomorrow
And I stand here cold where you left me
I have nothing, I drink the pain away or at least I try
You run from but still I chase
Left in the cold, arm scarred from the heroine
I know I can never reach you now but still I chase
Knowing that I will sleep and fall I never give up hope
And when there is the slightest chance I’m giving up hope, my life ends
Metaphorically speaking your life and I’m death
It seems we can never be at the same place at once
It seems people love you but they hate me
It’s as if you act like I cause all the pain and create sympathy.
And like you give joy and smiles
You act like I try to take love away
And you try and give it back
It seems we’ll never meet but still I’ll chase
Metaphorically speaking I’m the addict and you’re my drug
I spend all my money, leave me begging for food
Yet I can’t get enough of you
No matter how bad you affect my life
Snort, smoke, shoot anything to be with you
You always slip away but I still chase.
Metaphorically speaking I’m you and you’re me
You chase me all the time but I do nothing but run
Teasing you as you’re almost caught up then taking off
In another dive towards the finish line that doest exist
I toy with your emotions, and play with you mind
Sad thing is, I don’t even realize I’m doing it
Metaphorically speaking you’re love and I’m me
I chase you all the time and just when I think I’m close
Something happens to pull me even farther apart from you
Literally speaking I’m me and you’re you
And I chase no more
